Beach Soccer History

Beach soccer had started more than 30 years ago on the beaches of Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The game now has quickly developed and now is considered an attractive and fun way to enjoy soccer. It has also become an art form. With more and more games organized around the world sand soccer - including the recent FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup - is now being slowly recognized in the wider soccer community.
In 1994, the first ever event covered by network tv was held on the Copacobana Beach in Rio and the city hosted the inaugural Beach Soccer World championship one year later. The competition was won by the hosts, making Brazil the first World champions of Beach soccer. This success saw commercial interest begin to match the development on the pitch and growing demand for the sport around the world gave rise to the pro Beach Soccer Tour in 1996.

The fact is that beach soccer is the fastest growing beach sport in the world amongst recreational youth and adult players, and with beach soccer entering world cups as well as the Olympic movement, Beach Soccer will only get stronger.
Beach soccer is a fun, high energy and spectacular game, which can be played for leisure, friendship, team play and for a healthy lifestyle - or with a competitive edge.
Beach soccer focuses on some of the most spectacular aspects of modern football: skill, agility and above all fast goals. All the action happens within a beach lifestyle atmosphere and the irregular nature of the sand playing surface lends itself to an entertaining style of play, with the ball spending most of the time in the air and the players are forced to improvise with moments of spectacular flair.
